Wareham Disability Wetroom

Disability Wetroom For Wareham Resident

When a couple in Wareham, Dorset wanted to future proof their bathroom our design and installation team created this stylish disability wetroom with many convenient features.

Products Used

  • Altro Marine flooring
  • Impey Aqua dec former
  • RAK Resort 50cm wall hung single tap hole basin with semi pedestal
  • RAK Resort Rimless Wall Hung Pan
  • Grab rails
  • Padded folding shower seat
  • Perseo beige & décor wall tiles

Our clients, one of whom has impaired mobility, asked us to design and install a new level access wetroom with convenient features to make bathing easier. Using our Compusoft virtual bathroom design software we created a design for the new wetroom, complete with detailed floor plans and photographic renderings of the finished room.  Allowing our clients to visualise the finished shower room before we proceeded with the installation.  Under the government scheme for people with disabilities, all works and products associated with the project were exempt from VAT.

The main issue we had to overcome when planning the layout for the new wetroom was space. There simply was not enough room to accommodate the size of shower required in the existing ground floor bathroom. The solution was to move a wall to create the space needed.

To install the Impey Wetdeck wetroom floor former and pipework our lead installer, Steve, had to excavate the concrete floor which was later screeded to provide a sound and level base for vinyl flooring.  Within the shower we installed grab handles and a padded fold down shower seat. To enclose the shower, we installed a stylish fixed glass walk-in screen to allow easy and level access to the shower.

Altro Marine vinyl flooring in a light grey colour was installed across the entire floor and shower with wood grain effect and sand toned contrasting wall tiles from Perseo. A stylish RAK Resort toilet and wash basin with illuminated vanity mirror and further grab rails completed the room. Our customers were delighted with their new wetroom and commented:

“A huge thank you to all who were involved in this build/refurb. You have provided excellent service from start to finish and the end result is simply stunning! Very high-quality workmanship and the wet room just looks gorgeous. We are delighted with the end result. A special thanks to Steve who was worked in a professional, tidy way and was always cheerful and accommodating. He has done a marvellous job so please do pass on our thanks to him.”

Stylish and convenient disability bathroom created by Room H2o for the Clifftop Care Home in Swanage

Clifftop Care Home Swanage

Assisted Living Bathroom For Clifftop Care Home in Swanage

Our bathroom installation team removed a wall at the Clifftop Care Home in Swanage to create space for this new disability shower room with level floor and stylish but practical bathroom fittings.

Swanage, Dorset BH19 1LS

Products Used

  • Altro flooring
  • RAK Resort C/C mini toilet
  • RAK series 600 wash hand basin
  • Vado Life concealed shower valve
  • Roper Rhodes Eminence 490 x 650mm oval mirror
  • Biava Straight Multi Rail 1118 x 600mm  towel radiator
  • Chrome grab handles

The project involved the renovation of an existing shower room at the Clifftop Care Home.  To meet current regulations our bathroom design and installation team had to enlarge the space, and this was achieved by removing a wall.

The brief from the client was a stylish shower room complying with Document M regulations. A rimless RAK Resort close coupled toilet was installed to minimise projection and make access for wheelchair users easier.  The toilet was complimented by a RAK Series 600 basin, easy to operate single leaver basin mixer and oval Eminence illuminated bathroom mirror from Roper Rhodes.  Stylish chrome grab handles were installed either side of the basin and toilet, giving the new bathroom a modern and luxury feel.

To create the shower, the floor was screeded to create falls to a flush stainless steel drain before the entire area was covered in high grip Altro vinyl flooring in a contrasting blue colour to aid those with impaired vision.  For the shower we installed a stylish but easy to use Vado Life concealed thermostatic shower valve with hand shower and riser kit. Allowing the carers to easily set the hight of the shower to suit the requirements of each resident.  The tiles were supplied by Clifftop Care Home and installed by our expert tilers.

The project took a little over 2 weeks to complete and all works and products were exempt from VAT under the government scheme for people with disabilities.  If you are considering you own assisted living bathroom you can read more about our service here or alternatively, please do contact our expert design team.

‘Bath Out, Shower In’ Project In Lytchett Matravers

Bath Out Shower In Project In Lytchett Matravers

We were recently approached by a client in Lytchett Matravers, Poole. They wanted a complete revamp of their old bathroom, making the most of the small space. After completing a site visit and creating a 3D design, we were given the go-ahead to install a gorgeous new shower room.

Lytchett Matravers, Poole, Dorset

Products Used

  • Karndean Argento Opus SP217 stone effect vinyl flooring
  • Fiora Privilege extra flat shower tray in Cenere 1800x800mm
  • Crosswater Design fixed shower screen 1000mm
  • Roper Rhodes Vetro fitted furniture basin unit with Ascent semi recessed wash basin
  • Roper Rhodes Ascent closed coupled toilet
  • Afyon grey polished porcelain tiles 30×60

Due to the limited space, we recommended an open walk-in shower area to replace the old bathtub. Our design uses the entire end of the room for the shower area, protected by a 1000mm fixed glass panel by Crosswater. For the shower tray, the homeowners chose Fiora’s Privilege tray in Cenere (1800x800mm) due to its sleek appearance and tough, grippy design.

The showering equipment is a real showstopper. It consists of a 3-in-1 Eastbrook shower with 3 body jet, with an unusual shape that curves overhead. As for the flooring, the homeowners browsed our extensive Karndean collection before plumping for the Opus range in Argento. This was complimented by Afyon grey polished porcelain wall tiles in size 300x600mm, featuring a very similar texture. The resulting colour scheme contrasts well with the ladder rail, basin and sanitaryware.

The homeowners wanted the furniture to be as unobtrusive as possible. As such, we recommended the space-saving Roper Rhodes Vetro fitted furniture basin unit, paired with an Ascent semi-recessed basin. Another stylish touch is the Carla 1200×500 radiator in matt black finish. Taken from Phoenix’s designer towel rails range, the asymmetrical design adds character to the otherwise straightforward room.

Easy Access Shower Room In Wareham

Easy Access Shower Room for Elderly Gentleman in Wareham

We designed and installed a disability bathroom for an elderly homeowner in Wareham, Dorset. He was finding it hard to get in and out of his old bathtub. As such, he requested an easy access shower area fitted with grab bars, seating and large overhead shower.

Wareham, Dorset

Products Used

  • RAK Feeling bathtub replacement shower tray 170×70 in Cappucino colour
  • Fixed shower screen with floor to ceiling stability post
  • R2 TR3003 Marine shower with overhead shower and handset
  • Karndean Knight Tile Lime washed oak KP99
  • Belgravia wall tiles in shower area
  • Folding padded shower seat
  • Chrome grab rails

The project ran into an unwelcome surprise after we had removed the old carpeting. This was because the floorboards were found to be rotten and in need of replacement, which added extra time and cost. Our installers then discovered a galvanised pipe under the old bath, which we were forced to rip out and replace it with a new tank. Fortunately, we worked quickly to overcome the problem and finish within two weeks.

We supplied a number of quality products to suit the specifications. Safety was the most important consideration – we put in a padded seat and two grab bars for maximum security whilst showering. We also installed a new pump to run the shower, fitted with an R2 Marine overhead shower and handset combo. For the fixed glass panel we installed a secure floor-to-ceiling post for added stability.

After disposing of the old carpet, we laid Karndean Knight vinyl flooring in Lime Washed Oak. This was complimented by Belgravia beige wall tiles in the shower area, which contrasts nicely with the wood effect vinyl floor. Our installers left the old basin and toilet untouched, as the customer was satisfied with his existing products.

The gentleman was able to pay for the bathroom without VAT added, due to his age and disability. A nice bonus!
