New Bathroom Installation in Wool, Dorset

A couple from the pretty Dorset village of Wool approached us to design and install new bathroom for them. The project included a new suite, tiling and a new over bath shower. See how we transformed their old bathroom in only 2 weeks.

Our customer wanted to replace their family bathroom with a fresh new suite, tiling and flooring. They wanted to retain the existing bath but also add a shower. As the room was not big enough to accommodate a separate bath and shower enclosure we installed a bath shower mixer and two-part folding glass bath screen.

After the team had stripped the old bathroom suit, tiles and flooring, they set about re-plumbing and adding electrics for the illuminated bathroom mirror with demister. They also fitted easy to access isolation valves for the shower and basin taps. With the new Carron Quantum 1800mm single end bath, with convenient grips for easy access, was installed the team could crack on with the tiling and flooring.

Just the wall to the left of the bath was going to be painted, with the remainder of the room tiled from floor to ceiling. Our tilers installed large 600 x 300mm stone effect grey tiles on the main walls which make the room feel larger. To make a feature of the window wall behind the bath we installed stone brick effect tile in a complimentary tone with contrasting darker highlights. With tiling and grouting completed, the team installed dark wood effect Karndean Opus Argen luxury vinyl plank flooring. Waterproof and comfortable underfoot but giving the look and feel of real wood.

With the walls and floors complete, it was now time to add the pretty bits. As a stylish and space saving option, we installed Calypso Selter fitted bathroom furniture, in Oyster glass colour, with a semi-recessed Fontana basin. The R2 Serenity back to wall toilet features a soft close seat and the simple modern lines look stylish but also make it easy to clean. To finish, we installed a 500x700mm R2 bathroom mirror with LED lighting and built-in demister.

Installing the shower was the final part of the project. For the shower we installed a R2 JOY push button shower with riser kit and dual function shower head.  The location of the fitted bathroom furniture prevented the use of a standard hinged bath screen. To get around the issue, we installed a two-part folding shower screen, with a small fixed panel at the wall and a larger movable screen hinged from it. This solution allowed the glass to open fully, providing easy access to the shower, while clearing the vanity unit.

From start to finish, this full bathroom refurbishment took our team two and a half weeks. As you can tell from their comments, our customer was delighted with the results the professionalism of our bathroom installation team.
