Inspirational bespoke bathroom installation

After taking inspiration from one of our display models at the Room H2o showroom in Wareham, Dorset, we were delighted when the owner of the property contacted us to design and install a new bathroom as part of the renovations. The design and features of this striking old building, with angular ceilings and beams, meant a standard shower enclosure wasn’t an option. But, with our bespoke bathroom design and installation service, we were able to create a wonderful made-to-measure bathroom, including an angled frameless shower enclosure, shower seat tiled with gorgeous travertine tiles, and an exquisite Fiora shower tray.

Our bespoke frameless shower enclosure was the perfect choice

The customer desired an enclosure that offered a minimalistic appearance, but was able to deal with the power of the shower system that had been installed. And, with the standard building features of this magnificent property, such as sloping ceilings and beams, the shower needed to accommodate these too. So, our made-to-measure shower enclosures offered the perfect solution.

The challenges of a period property’s characteristics

This particular project posed a few challenges, due to the age of the building, the angle of the ceilings and the limestone structure of the listed 17th century farm. The angle of the ceiling and ceiling beam needed to be accommodated by the shower enclosure, meaning we had to create an angled panel, templated to fit the beam perfectly. This panel was also shaped to match the curved, tiled shower seat, which was one of the designs inspired by our display models at our Dorset showroom. As the building has a limestone structure, our tilers needed to select tile adhesives and grouts that were compatible, so used the eco-friendly and high performance products from the Kerakoll range.

Our highly skilled bathroom installation team

Room H2o supplied, tiled and installed the entire bathroom, including the custom-made frameless shower enclosure, which was designed to fit the angle of the beautiful period property’s ceilings and walls, as well as a made-to-measure low-profile shower tray.

Our Managing Director, David Burgess, managed the project, as well as the design of the bathroom and the product specification. James Foster, our frameless shower installation manager, measured and installed the shower enclosure, which was uniquely designed by Nishi Sharma from Room H2o. The tiling was carried out by our sister company, UK Tiles Direct, who offer specialist tiling services in and around the Dorset area.

Exceptional quality design and products

With such a fabulous property, the design of the bathroom was crucial to not only meet the customer’s requirements for a minimalistic design, but also to accommodate and embrace the stunning original features of the farmhouse and its glorious surroundings in the Isle of Purbeck.

Our bespoke frameless glass inline shower enclosure was the perfect choice, with the inline panel angled to suit the ceiling, and a cut out around the roof beam. At 1600mm wide, with 10mm thick glass, this offers no unsightly wall profiles, for a truly frameless and minimalistic look. The Fiora Silex 1600×900 shower tray is a lovely accompaniment, in off white. This ultra-low-profile shower tray was made to measure to fit the bespoke shower enclosure.

Lydia Classico Tumbled Travertine tiles were used for the enclosure and bespoke shower seat, with beautiful beige tones and smooth edges. Matching mosaics were also used for a delightful finishing touch. Prior to tiling, we applied Kerakoll Aquastop waterproof joint kit to the walls, and the tilers from UK Tiles Direct used Kerakoll Marmorex adhesive, which is specially designed for use with natural stone tiles, and Kerakoll Fugabella Eco tile grout, which offers exceptional water resilience and anti-bacterial properties.

The rest of the unique bathroom design included a stylish Vado Tablet shower, contemporary Vado Origins Tall mixer tap and a Roper Rhodes Version toilet.
